Do some psychics believe they can truly predict the future? Yes, they do. The word "psychic" comes from the Greek word "psychikos" which means "of the soul, mental". Since the dawning of time, there have been people who believe that that their prophecies will come true for the rest of humanity. To predict the future, to them, is as easy as breathing.
Modern culture doesn't truly believe in those who say they can predict the future. In our culture, it's believed that these psychics only lie to earn money off the job they can create when people ask to have someone predict their future to ease their sake of mind.
Fact or fiction
Who says, though, that these people aren't for real? Why shouldn't we think ahead, like Nostradamus, following his quote of “Arrived too late, Act already done?” Maybe he, too, believed in the power of these parapsychologists. Well, he must have, being as he was a man who wrote many a prophecy himself.
Even if the general population doesn't believe in the powers of those who can predict the future, a few believers still live on. Psychics still exist on population television shows such as "That's So Raven" and "The Dead Zone". These shows, even for the non-believers, still continue to captivate a large audience because they predict the future. Other shows, however, have been quick to follow with the skeptics when detectives will “discover” that a psychic is making false claims and will put them in jail for their false forecasts.
Who can predict the future?
The living proofs the modern world has of those who can predict the future are sideshow attractions, magicians, and phone psychics. Does this mean that those who possess the ability to predict the future are dying out? No, maybe not. It may mean that those who possess the ability to predict the future are just becoming shyer about their power because of rejection of the general population.
Skeptics claim that people who can predict the future are only using cheap, sideshow tricks. The skeptics claim that psychics can't predict the future – they only use broad generalizations that every human being can trick themselves into believing.
Who says we're not to believe that some people can predict the future? I, for one, do. If someone has a prophecy in mind for the planet, there's no harm in believing in something that may possibly save your life. Who knows? Maybe someday, you yourself could predict the future.
